East Bristol Bakery to open second site at Wapping Wharf

Updated: Jun 5, 2023

East Bristol Bakery are this week opening their new bakery at Wapping Wharf, on Wednesday 7th December.

A collaboration from the team behind East Bristol Bakery, The Public Market and Brockley Stores, the site will be opening up in the unit at Cargo 2 which was previously occupied by Bakers & Co, bringing a new provider of homemade breads, pastries and cake to Bristol's independent shopping quarter.

Following on from the success of their Easton-based bakery, which has been providing freshly baked goods to Bristolians for the past five years, the site will be East Bristol Bakery's second location. Famed for their cinnamon swirls, the team will be serving up a range of delicious food and drink to takeaway, all using locally sourced produce including sourdough loaves made with Shipton Mill flour, sausage rolls using locally reared free range pork and Extract coffee.

Speaking about the new opening, East Bristol Bakery Managing Director Rob Hagen said: "Wapping Wharf is an incredible community which already hosts some of the best food around. We love the other retailers already there (Meatbox, Bristol Cheesemonger, Herbivore to name just a few) and some of our favourite restaurants!"

"We're hoping to bring smiles in the morning – a cheery hello, an amazing Extract coffee, and freshly baked breakfast. We'll be serving breakfast (think pastries, bacon sandwiches or bread to toast at home), lunch (home made sausage rolls, savoury danishes, sandwiches) and of course, ALL THE CAKE! We may even have a few mince pies up our sleeve in the run up to Christmas" he explains.

"We are really looking forward to working together with some of our new neighbours to help people understand about the journey of where our food comes from and where it is made!"

Speaking about the new opening, Stuart Hatton, managing director at Umberslade, the developer behind Wapping Wharf, says: "We've always wanted Wapping Wharf to provide people with a one-stop destination where they can get all of their essentials, so to have another fantastic local bakery joining our community is fantastic news. We're big fans of East Bristol Bakery and love their ethos of using locally grown and sourced produce, and think they're going to be a wonderful addition to our family here at Wapping Wharf. "

East Bristol Bakery will open at Cargo 2 on Wednesday 7th December and will be open Monday to Friday 8-3pm, Saturday and Sunday 9-4pm.
