Wapping Wharf welcomes bold new Asian fusion street food venture

Wapping Wharf is set to welcome another unique addition to its vibrant food scene, with the arrival of Rice & Shine Kitchen, a family-run Asian fusion street food business.

Founded by husband-and-wife duo Quelly and Russel Viray, Rice & Shine Kitchen began as home-cooked food shared with friends and family in Bath before the pandemic, quickly growing into a popular pop-up and street food venture. Built on a passion for Filipino cuisine with wider Asian influences, the brand has earned a loyal following thanks to its comfort-driven dishes and warm, welcoming approach.

Opening a permanent unit at Wapping Wharf marks an exciting new chapter for the family-led business.

At their new Wapping Wharf location, which was previously occupied by Daily Noodles, diners can expect a menu packed with variety. Signature dishes include sizzling crispy pork belly, beef pares (Filipino braised beef), flavoursome rice bowls, street-food style sides, and indulgent desserts. Seasonal specials and takeaway options will also be available, making Rice & Shine Kitchen a go-to spot for lunch, dinner, or relaxed evening dining by the harbour. Every dish is cooked fresh, reflecting the team’s commitment to quality.

Speaking about the new opening, Quelly and Russel said:

“Opening at Wapping Wharf is a huge milestone for us. Rice & Shine started from home cooking and pop-ups, so having a permanent space in such a vibrant food community means everything. We can’t wait to welcome both familiar faces and new customers, and to share the dishes that represent our heritage.”

Speaking about the newest addition to the Wapping Wharf community, Stuart Hatton, managing director at Umberslade said:

“We’re thrilled to welcome Rice & Shine Kitchen to Wapping Wharf. Their commitment to offering creative dishes with traditional influence fits perfectly with the independent food community down here, and we know customers will love discovering their Asian fusion street food.”

Rice & Shine Kitchen will open at Unit 7, CARGO, Wapping Wharf, Gaol Ferry Steps, Bristol BS1 6WP, offering unique Asian fusion cuisine from Wednesday 18th March. Opening hours will be: Tuesday 11:30am-9pm; Wednesday - Friday 11:30am-9pm; Saturday 11am-9pm; Sunday 11am-8pm.
